SLP entering violet plate market
Southern Lithoplate Inc. is adding
a digital violet plate to its newspaper product portfolio.
The Tiger V plate, available now, according to Steve Mattingly,
SLP’s vice president of marketing, joins SLP’s flagship Viper
thermal plate as products the vendor now offers to newspapers.
SLP tapped ECRM Imaging Systems as its primary partner promoting
the violet plate, although Mattingly said the plate will work
with other vendors’ violet platesetters as well.
“We’re working on
developing other partnerships as we speak,” he said, citing
alfaQuest Technologies as another potential partner.
The Tiger V is engineered with a run length of up to 150,000
impressions and can support a 175-line-per-inch or
2,450-dot-per-inch resolution.
“It will do anything a newspaper needs, including commercial
production,” he said.
SLP has offered a violet plate to commercial printers since
October 2006.“We feel it’s important to serve violet customers
in the newspaper market,” Mattingly said.
“We already have a commercial-quality violet plate and we now
want to be able to service newspaper customers.
”The introduction of the
Tiger V plate won't change SLP's current CTP Alliance, which is
built around the Viper plate and features platesetters from
Screen USA.
