Drupa to help
attendees find directions to info
Special to N&T
This
year’s Compass Sessions, staged in conjunction with drupa 2008, will feature
highly topical themes and internationally renowned speakers, event organizers
say.
The
two-hour seminars promise to offer information especially of value to print and
media industry decision-makers looking for guidance on investment decisions. On
11 days (at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.) the Compass Sessions will tackle digital
printing, digital workflows, offset printing, Web-to-print solutions, printed
electronics, premedia and packaging printing. More than 40 international
speakers will help participants get their bearings among the broad scope of
offerings at drupa.
A special
Compass Session, on June 4, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cover
printed electronics.
Jointly
organized with the Organic Electronic Association, the session will focus on the
latest developments of this rapidly growing market, in which printers use
specially formulated inks to apply electronics on paper, plastic, textiles and
other media.
The
Compass Sessions, coordinated by the Print & Media Forum AG, will feature such
speakers as James Harvey, Frank Romano and Prof. Arved Hubler.
The Ghent
Working Group, Pro Carton Deutschland and the OEA are among co-partners.
All the
sessions will be held in Congress Center East at the Dusseldorf Trade Fair
Center.

Ramping up for drupa
Among products to be displayed at next month’s drupa:
•Global Graphics is
introducing eDocument, a document workflow app; and it is sponsoring the
PDF and XML Production Parc at the show. Among other products to be
displayed is Harlequin RIP; and the JDF-enabled Harlequin Plus Server
RIP.
•Graphic Microsystems
Inc. is rolling out a new closed-loop color control app, ColorQuick N.
The software enables newspaper printers to achieve high quality,
consistent cover, the company said. It will also display PrintQuick
color-to-color register and RibbonQuick bi-directional ribbon control,
among other products.
•Nela will show
products focusing on prepress to press automation at drupa, including
those designed to close the gap between computer-to-plate and press,
including the VCPEvolution Flexx, Nela’s newest generation of punch
benders capable of processing different plate formats with varying
punching and bending configurations and featuring the PQM+ quality
measuring tool.
PQM+ leverages an
imaged multi-field wedge (developed in cooperation with UGRA) to measure
imaging and developing quality for individual printing plates. Nela will
also show its LogiStack system with PlateFlow software. LogiStack
manages storage and delivery of punched and bent offset plates, at the
requested time and in the required sequence. |
