SLP touts successful Q1

Southern Lithoplate Inc. announced strong sales in the first quarter of 2008.

The vendor logged sales and installations at 12 newspaper printing operations in the United States and Canada through its CTP Alliance, consisting of Screen thermal computer-to-plate units, plate processors, punch/bend systems from Nela and workflow management software from its partners ProImage, Polkadots and Presteligence. All of the newspaper locations incorporated SLP Viper 830 plates.

Among first quarter sales were those to the Visalia (Calif.) Times-Delta; Bear River Publishing in Preston, Idaho; the Paducah (Ky.) Sun; the Hamilton (Ontario) Spectator; the Cynthiana (Ky.) Democrat (see Newspapers & Technology, April 2008), the Citizen Tribune in Morristown, Tenn.; the twice-weekly Cambridge (Minn.) Star; the Delphos (Ohio) Daily Herald and the Bogalusa (La.) Daily News. MediaNews Group’s San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News and Bay Area News Group, meantime, purchased MK III Supreme 85 and MK II 125 plate processors. BANG’s processors will be installed at its sites in Walnut Creek and Concord, Calif.

SLP also launched its new Litho Center manufacturing plant in the first quarter (see Newspapers & Technology, February 2008).
