GateHouse Media is shuttering three Arkansas newspapers, the Hope Star, the Nevada County Picayune-Times in Prescott, and the Arkadelphia Siftings-Herald, the Picayune-Times and the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported. Sept. 14 will be the last day of operations, the Democrat Gazette reported.

“The Hope Star has been a staple in Hempstead County and has been present for every milestone in our community,” said Teresa Hicks, senior group publisher. “It’s been a privilege to serve as the watchdog for our communities and keeping readers informed all of these years.”

The closures comes on the heels of the shuttering of two papers in central Arkansas, the North Little Rock Times and the Lonoke County Democrat.
